The Iowa Innovation Council (IIC) has adopted the position of basing decisions on available data, both historic and current. The IIC has also adopted the position of measuring in meaningful ways the outcomes of the activities supported by IIC efforts.
The list of metrics seeks to measure IIC efforts to grow an innovation-based economy in Iowa are currently under development. The metrics are divided into two categories; those historic metrics, and thus, traditional measures and those measures that are innovative. The former will bring with them baseline data and the latter will not, causing initial reporting to take the form of trend lines in place of hard data. We anticipate that within five years, each of the metrics will have developed baseline data to create uniform reporting.
